Tree Planting Project Bedfordshire

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the tree planting project in Bedfordshire.

As you know this is a unique opportunity for devotees around the country to come together to plant over 2,000 tree saplings in two different areas in Bedfordshire.

One of the areas will create a dedicated Tiny Forest which will feature a noticeboard with Swami’s name and message marking this special activity in the area.

This is a long-term initiative, and we will be able to see the forest grow over generations and our Organisation would be responsible for the maintenance of the tiny forest twice a year.

The initial tree and shrubs planting will take place on two different occasions and in two different areas:

When: Tuesday 23^rd and Wednesday 24^th January – 600 tree saplings and 600 shrubs will be planted in a different area to the Tiny forest.  Fewer volunteers are needed and as this is a weekday, we recommend only adults volunteer for these dates in January.  You can attend for the whole day or for 3hrs in the morning or afternoon.

Saturday 10^th February – we will be planting up to 1,600 trees in the Tiny Forest on this day and require up to 75 volunteers and anyone aged 6 and older can help on this day. Please note that young children will need to have parent/guardian supervision. You can attend for the whole day or for 3hrs in the morning or afternoon.

There are a variety of service opportunities from providing transport to catering to the actual tree planting.

Please note that we have committed specific number of volunteers for all the dates above and so it is important that you only register if you are definitely able to volunteer for this opportunity. 

If at the last minute you have an emergency and cannot attend then that is important you notify us as soon as possible via the WhatsApp group that will be created once volunteers have registered.

Swami has reminded us: “Because there is de-forestation to an alarming extent, the extent of carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere has considerably increased. Therefore, the remedy for this situation is intensive afforestation, growing more tress everywhere and protecting’ the existing trees without destroying them for other purposes.” 21 January 1993
