Region 8 Service Wing

The following activities are carried out across the Region:

Madical Camp to Prashanti Nilayam

Every year, Sai devotees from Aberdeen visit Parthi and participate in the UK/US MEDICAL ROTATION. They work at the Sri Sathya Sai Hospital Prashanthi Nilayam for two consecutive weeks and have done so for the past 5 years.

Medical Camp to Dang, Gujarat

A national medical camp is being hosted to serve in the remote village, DANG in Gujarat, from 17th to 23rd December 2011. 3 members from Aberdeen will be participating in this camp.

Seirra Leonne Medical Camp

Edinburgh members attended as volunteers at the Seirra Leonne medical camp in Africa. ( Anand you can add a link and attach photo below??)

Care for the Homeless

Weekly, food is distributed to about 50 people at ST. Catherine’s Church. Every Sunday, devotees make and serve soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and biscuits to about 70+ people at the Wayside Homeless Centre.

Care of the Elderly

Every month, devotees entertain, do activities and keep company to the elderly at a residential/nursing homes e.g. Basic exercise, songs, etc. On the Global Service day, every July, over 20+ residents from 3 residential homes in Glasgow are taken out for the day and also have a meal out.

Financial Support

Twice yearly, a financial donation is made to the NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR THE BLIND. Support has also been provided to the LEICESTER SAI SCHOOOL (a seva committee has been set up) and to the SATHYA SAI SCHOOL, ZAMBIA (a few devotees are also trust members) e.g. the purchase of tractors, school bus for the school.

Chaitanya Jyothi Museum, Prashanti Nilayam

Every year, 3-4 members volunteer to serve at the Chaitanya Museum for a minimum of 2 weeks

General Seva

Mangala Kara Educational Trust: Every November, some devotees donate clothing, stationary and toys. Devotees also assist with temple seva twice a month, helping the temple group in bhajan singing and conducting slokas chanting for children. Glasgow devotees and youths prepared a wonderful, useful Bhajan Directory and is now used in all the centres in Scotland.
